Mexican Ice Cream by Fany Gerson

Mexican Ice Cream by Fany Gerson

I recently traveled to San Antonio, with my friend Vianney from Sweet Life, to attend a private party for Fany Gerson  Fany is the author of three recipe books about Mexican desserts, including My Sweet Mexico, Paletas and now, Mexican Ice Cream.

Fany is known as a queen of Mexican desserts and has dedicated her life to bringing the sweet flavors of Mexico to the world.  She is also the owner of La Newyorkina and co-owner of Dough, two incredible Sweets shops in New York City.

So, when my friend Vianney invited me to the book launch party that she had planned for Fany in San Antonio, I jumped at the chance.

The party was hosted at a gorgeous little paletería off the corner of S Alamo Street and César E. Chávez Boulevard.  Paletería San Antonio is a small boutique-style paletería, nestled inside of Yanaguana Gardens, just a short walk from Tower of the Americas and the San Antonio Riverwalk.

At the party, we had the honor of meeting Fany Gerson, as she signed books and chatted one-on-one with attendees.  It was a small meetup, of about 10-15 people, and there were several other bloggers there, including @aprilmonterrosa, @quemeanswhat, @easyanddelish and @mchellrodriguez.

Mexican Ice Cream Book Launch Party

At the book launch party, Fany served up some custom-made paletas, including a kiwi-lime paleta for the kids, and two spiked paletas for the adults.  I tried the coconut rum paleta and it was loaded with fresh, crisp coconut shavings and packed with flavor!

It was great to have a chance to meetup with such an amazing entrepreneur and author.  During the event, she even shared with us a few personal stories about how she got started writing books, and some her own insights on starting a food-based business.

I’m so glad I had a chance to attend this event and meet up with Fany Gerson and so many of the bloggers that I’ve been connecting with online over the years.  Congratulations to Fany Gerson on her new book, Mexican Ice Cream!  There are so many amazing recipes and photos inside!  I’m excited to make my first batch of ice cream very soon!
