Today’s Latin / Mexican Inspired Ice Cream Float is based on a beloved flavor combination, apples and caramel. It’s my favorite flavor profile during the fall months, but this float transforms it into the perfect treat for summer.

This Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Float is made with rich dulce de leche ice cream, fresh apples and topped off with an icy Sidral Mundet apple soda.

If you grew up eating caramel apples or candy apples, this float is for you! It’s the perfect combination of sweet and tart, with the added richness of a dense, sticky delicious dulce de leche.

To create this gorgeous dulce de leche ice cream float, I used HEB’s Creamy Creations Dulce de Leche ice cream and Sidral Mundet classic apple soda.

What you’re left with is a delicious rich and creamy ice cream float, perfect for a backyard barbecue, family movie night or date night.

For this recipe, I went simple and included fresh apple slices and salted caramel sauce, but I love to make homemade toppings too.

Some ideas for homemade toppings can include diced apples, sauteed in brown sugar, butter and cinnamon or even crispy sopaipillas.

If you don’t have salted caramel, a light sprinkle of kosher salt is amazing and adds the perfect balance to the richness of the dulce de leche in this float!

As with every ice cream float recipe I’ve created, I also love to add a sundae recipe because I always loved my floats in a ice cream bowl as a kid.

My favorite way to eat an ice cream float is with a spoon, that way you can get the perfect bite with a little bit of everything.

For this gorgeous ice cream float sundae, there aren’t any changes to the original ingredients. Simply cut them in half. You’ll only need 1 scoop of ice cream, 1/2 a soda (or less) and as many toppings as you want!

Caramel Apple Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Float

This Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Float is inspired by the classic flavors of caramel apple. Made with rich and creamy dulce de leche ice cream, fresh apples and Sidral Mundet apple soda, this float is an instant favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Sidral Mundet apple soda
  • 2 scoops H-E-B Creamy Creations Dulce de Leche Ice Cream
  • Whipped cream topping (we used Reddi-Wip)
  • Cajeta, dulce de leche or salted caramel syrup
  • Fresh apple slices or freshly diced apples

Instructions

  • Add 2 scoops of H-E-B Creamy Creations Dulce de Leche ice cream to a large glass.
  • Pour in 1/2 to 1 full bottle of Sidral Mundet apple soda.
  • Gently mix with a sundae spoon or straw.
  • Top with your favorite toppings, like whipped cream, cajeta, dulce de leche, caramel sauce, fresh apples, cinnamon sugar or a homemade topping of your choice.
