Flavor of Sioux Falls – Falls Park

Up until now, I’ve kind of left my location in the universe ambiguous.  Those closest to us know where were at, but for most, the answer is simply, “the Midwest”.  Well, lately I’ve been feeling like I’d like to share a little bit of my world and tell you all about what’s great about our BIG, little city in the Midwest.  Flavor of Sioux Falls is a new section on my blog where I will be sharing all my family’s favorite attractions, shopping, local happenings and food spots from around the greater Sioux Falls area.  I hope you’ll tune in and learn a little about what Sioux Falls has to offer and how we’re growing into a more diverse community.

In the photo collage above, we’re visiting the falls in Falls Park, which stream out of the Big Sioux River and cascade through these beautiful red rocks (pictured below). At night, they’re lit up with a colorful light display that my daughter just loves.  That’s something I’ll be posting here too.  ;)

About Sioux Falls

The history of Sioux Falls and it’s name revolve around the Oglala Sioux and the Big Sioux River.  Sioux Falls is the largest city in the state of South Dakota.  We are one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and are rapidly increasing in diversity with a variety immigrant and refugee populations, as well as families flocking from other states due to a poor economy in places outside the Midwest.  If fact, most metro cities in the Midwest have seen an upturn in population in the last ten years as we have a more stable and assured economy here.  That’s the primary reason that my husband and I moved here three years ago and it’s what keeps us here.

Stay tuned for some fun and interesting activities for multicultural families!  :)

I know, right!?  Someday I'll also have to share my hometown of Muskegon…right on Lake Michigan.  It's like living on the ocean, so adjusting to a new place has been rough…but their is so much beauty here too!  I can't wait to share with you!  Thanks for stopping in Tara!  :)
